Gotha: A town located at about three fifths of the axis Berlin-Frankfurt. In 1984 the two sandbox friends Christoph and Benjamin picked up the claves and fled the bland kindergarten reality with the escape into something they’ll share for decades to come: Making music together. Years pass, fast forward to 2000: On the path to Eleusis the two fellows end up in Denmark. Wafting atop the local acid sound they tour the flattest of kingdoms from south to north to watch the mesmerising scenery between the Skagerrak and the Kattegat: North Sea waves hit Baltic Sea waves hit sawtooth waves.
The good part of three decades after the first cautious steps and some other musical projects on their back—The Zonnhaider’s Club, Nosral Flow, to name a few—the claves are joined by synthesizers and a range of other instruments and that not only for the dancing crowd’s sake: Their studies of electroacoustics at the SeaM in Weimar stirs the blood of even the most abstract minded. But first and foremost Irk Yste makes Meta-Acid. Like, their Acid: An elaborate mixture of techno, house, jazz and their nuances, under- and overtones. Born out of the iterative process of building structure and harmony and dismantling them to start anew; with a sound located at about three fifths of the axis Berlin-Frankfurt.
